Hours: 1 day per week
The Families and Parenting Service (FIP) works generically with families with multiple, complex problems, in a bid to reduce risk and enable families to achieve control and stability in their lives.
CRI Young People’s Service incorporates the targeted Connexions service which supports vulnerable young people with multiple barriers to participation.
The Domestic Abuse Service (DAS) provides a range of support, from information, practical and emotional support, to people living with domestic abuse issues. DAS also offers children’s therapeutic sessions for witnesses and victims aged 5-16.
The successful volunteer will support each of these services within the Hastings and Rother area, based in Rothermere House, Hastings, carrying out the following duties:
Being the first point of contact for service users, staff and other professionals entering the office
Answering external and internal telephone calls, transferring through to the relevant department or taking messages
Taking ‘safety calls’ from staff members following safety procedures helping to undertake evaluative exercises, including telephoning past and present service users to gather data
General administrative duties for each service
Updating the front of house information leaflets and flyers and ensuring the reception area is kept tidy
Volunteering with the Young People and Families Service will provide:
•Valuable experience of working with vulnerable young people and adults
•Ability to be part of a continually developing service
•Opportunity to undertake CRI Core training courses after a qualifying period
•Regular supervision sessions within the project.
This volunteer position is based in our Hastings site but may require some travel to the Eastbourne office (all travel will be paid).
Skills and experience:
•Experience of using computerised programmes such as Word and Excel
•Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
•Sensitive to the needs of people with complex needs
•Able to respect and maintain confidentiality
•Ability to manage challenging behaviour
•Willingness to attend regular supervision, team meetings and undertake other work related to support the service.
A minimum of one day per week.
In line with CRI policy this will be no more than 3 days volunteering per working week.
Week days available:
Monday - Friday 9:00 – 5pm
