East Lancs Service Modernisation Continues

2011-09-20 Drug and Alcohol

The modernisation of substance misuse services in East Lancashire continues with the opening of a new Inspire service base in Pendle.

Inspire, commissioned by Lancashire Drug and Alcohol Action Team (LDAAT) and delivered by CRI, provides a holistic approach to recovery from drug and alcohol use. In addition to substance misuse treatment, Inspire provides access to safe and secure housing through Acorn Housing and to training and employment opportunities via Work Solutions. Service users who complete the recovery programme can also learn to help future service users by training as peer mentors.

"We are delighted to be entering a new stage of Inspire's development with the opening of the Pendle service," said David Biddle, Deputy Chief Executive, CRI. "The existing Inspire services in East Lancashire are already making a significant positive impact on service users and local communities. The challenge now is to continue to improve the service and deliver the outcomes that the people and communities of East Lancashire deserve."

Pendle Mayor, Councillor Nadeem Ahmed, officially launched the Pendle service on Friday 16 September at a ceremony to mark the hard work and progress of service users currently engaged with Inspire's recovery services in Accrington, Burnley, Clitheroe and Rawtenstall.
